James Troup pointed out some time ago that this probably breaks another
policy about version numbers in native Debian packages.
[ That's why the debian-keyring package he maintains uses dots instead
of hyphens, YYYY.MM.DD ].

I would propose to discuss this minor point first.
[ I would suggest to make "YYYYMMDD" the recommended choice in this case,
points are not allowed in ISO dates, only hyphens or nothing, I think ].
