That is, just moving all the X stuff into the usual /usr/bin, /usr/lib, /usr/include and similar places. One argument against doing so is that unholy mess underneath /usr/X11R6/lib. Moving that thing won't get rid of it. I don't think that really addresses the issue here, though. We're still going to be stuck with symlinks for the sake of backward compatibility, and I think we need a policy on whether, and if so to what degree, Debian permits the end user to split /usr across multiple disk paritions. -- G.
