I agree. I talked about clear and reset because I thought they were the
ones it made the package to be essential.
The complete list is:
captoinfo, clear, infocmp, reset, tic, toe, tput, tset

Do you mean ncurses-bin should not be essential?
If it is not essential, the user will be able to remove it. Is really
"useful" the freedom of being able to remove ncurses-bin without using
- --force-remove-essential?
I will postpone any bug[*] on ncurses-bin until we all agree on this.
[*] Either add Pre-Depends or drop the essential flag.
