What rushes to my mind is another thing:

. No maintainer should announce their uploads but Guys script should
do this on a daily basis.

. No maintainer should close bugs that are closed due to a new
uploaded version. Instead Guys script should close the bugs
after the package found its way into the distribution.

This could be done by including information about which bugs got
closed by a new release. This has been discussed on debian-devel
and resulted in an accepted syntax. Some people are already using
this with their packages. Look at Bug#16443 for some adjustments.

Yes please. We really need one. I've got a powerpc and an amiga
only for Debian development. There will be a sparc in the next
days, too. We're also able to use va for compilation. So yes,
we should think strongly about auto-compilers
