CHANGES FROM FSSTND 1.2 TO FHS 2.0
Hi folks!
I just received this through the fhs-discuss mailing list. The list of
changes might be good start for the discussion about the migration
process.
(Note, that I have not verified that this list is complete!)
(Also note, that the really important changes are not listed. They are
hidden behind `/var/state' added :-)

CHANGES FROM FSSTND 1.2 TO FHS 2.0
[snip]
o Non-technical changes
* Abstract rewritten.
* Removed list of trademarks, but retained trademark and copyright
disclaimer. It was unnecessary and difficult to maintain.
* Copying terms changed to be more open and to allow translations
without a license.
* Most of the introduction restructured and/or rewritten.
o Major Structural Changes
* Specifications specific to Linux were moved out of the main body
into a Linux annex.
* "Issues and Rationale" section removed, rationale information
now follows most technical sections.
o Major Technical Changes (i.e., not all of them)
* /opt, /etc/opt, and /var/opt added.
* /usr/share added (and many associated changes).
* /usr/adm and /usr/preserve compatibility symbolic links removed.
* /usr/etc directory removed.
* /var/cache added.
* /var/lib removed.
* /var/state added.
