m130 sync problems

I've just bought a Palm m130 which I'm trying to get to work, however with no
joy so far. From what I can tell, the kernel isn't giving it an entry in /dev
or at least dmesg doesn't show anything.

I did a quick scan back over this list but didn't find anything that seemed
to fit my problem :/ (although I didn't search back all that far).

modprobe visor gives me:

usbserial.c: USB Serial support registered for Handspring Visor
usbserial.c: USB Serial support registered for Palm 4.0
usbserial.c: USB Serial support registered for Sony Clié 3.5
usbserial.c: USB Serial support registered for Sony Clié 4.0
visor.c: USB HandSpring Visor, Palm m50x, Sony Clié driver v1.5

simply plugging the USB cradle in does nothing (I assume this is correct), but
when I press the hotsync button I get:

hub.c: USB new device connect on bus2/1, assigned device number 12
usb.c: USB device 12 (vend/prod 0x830/0x50) is not claimed by any active
driver.

and once the hotsync fails:

usb.c: USB disconnect on device 12

obviously, I expect the hotsync to fail as nothing's listening for it, but
I'm a bit perplexed as to which device the cradle is using.

uname -a reports: Linux asparagus 2.4.18-newpmac #1 Thu Mar 14 22:44:49 EST
2002 ppc unknown unknown GNU/Linux
(this is the kernel-image-2.4.18-newpmac package from unstable)

Hopefully someone here can enlighten me as to what's going on.

Cheers,

Gareth
