You're using Pilot Manager?  Do you have any conduits configured?  If
not, I think you'll see exactly that behavior -- Pilot Manager has no
jobs assigned to run, so no sychronization takes place.

If you really think it's a device problem, your best bet (IMO) is to
try using the command-line pilot-xfer command directly.  If you can
get that running, then getting the GUI tools running (which are mostly
just wrappers around the pilot-link tools like pilot-xfer) should be
relatively straightforward.

Try 'pilot-xfer -l'.  That should list the files on your Palm.  If
that succeeds, then you'll know that the basic communications are
working, and the problem is in your Pilot Manager config.  If it
doesn't, you'll want to experiment with the PILOTRATE and PILOTPORT
environment variables to find some values that do work.  The man pages
for pilot-link and pilot-xfer should be helpful.
