Re: use Perl; # Annual meeting of the Debian Perl Group (BoF for debconf20 online submitted)

Hi,

I've been reminded (see forwarded message below) to arrange a short test
call before the BoF to ensure smooth participation. Participants are
strongly encouraged to do the same and join #dc20-speakertest for a
quick test.

It should be very quick, just a few minutes, to ensure everything is
working smoothly.

When you do so, please tell it's related to a BoF I (nodens on IRC)
facilitate, so the people in charge can keep track.

A few generic Jitsi pointers, just in case, even if I guess we're all
getting used more and more to these tools nowadays ;)

(those are gathered from my own experience, but I've been told during
the test it still applies):

- prefer Chromium (or a variant) over Firefox: it makes things easier
for everyone, both the Jitsi instance and the participants computers

- Use an external microphone and don't rely on the laptop one if possible
- mute yourself when you don't need to talk especially if your
microphone is noisy (or you are taking notes).

I'm looking forward meeting you in the Jitsi room tomorrow!

Cheers,

nodens

Dear speaker,
If you've already had a test Jitsi call with the Speaker Assistance Team, or
your talk has already happened, feel free to ignore this. Otherwise, please
come to #dc20-speakerdesk channel on OFTC in order to arrange a test Jitsi
call. All being well, this should only take a few minutes, and it helps
ensure
that BoFs and the Q&A portions of talks go as smoothly as possible. If
you are
convening a BoF, please ask the people who will be in the BoF with you
to also
visit us.

Best regards,
Speaker Assistance Team
