Reactions so far: two "+1", noone speaking up in favour of git-dpm or
starting a discussion.

So I've looked at the 4 packages again: 2 had the patches unapplied
(one more than in July); I unapplied them for the remaining two
packages.
After that I left debian/.git-dpm in place as it doesn't seem to
interfer with the traditional workflow.
