New upstream versions

Hi,
I can see on the Maintainer Dashboard for Debian Perl Group [1], that
there are a large number of packages with new upstream versions available.
Is it acceptable for any team member to prepare the update for the
package? (Don't want to step on toes, as this is my first time working
within a packaging team)
