It depends what "derived from this software" means.  The only protection
"OpenSSL" has, in itself, would be as a trademark.

Apple has an example here:

which seems to indicate that "OpenSSL Project" and "OpenSSL Toolkit" are
protected but not bare "OpenSSL".
