With source format v3: most probably no extra action is required.

With "additional care" I meant that I would check very carefully that
both the source and the binary package look like I expect them to
look, since I have hardly any experience with v3 and
debian-dir-in-upstream, and I vaguely remember some changes in
dkpg(-dev) in that area.
