Please be careful with comments about students on the public mailing list
I realize that in some other mailing lists outside Debian there are
discussions like that but here we try to be optimistic about all the
projects even though some students may be struggling with the project.

Please contact the coordinators using the private email address
outreach@debian.org before you think about dropping or failing any student.
If one mode of communication with the student is failing, please try
another. For example, if they don't respond to email, please try
ringing them.
This is also a good reminder that now is a good time to ask students for
phone numbers if you didn't already ask, even if you are happy
communicating by email and IRC right now you may need to ring them at
some time in the future.
