updating the project ideas list
Hi all,
I understand there have been a few discussions about the project ideas
list and the variety of projects, some of which are very much core
Debian activities and others being about the wider free software eco-system.
I don't want to start the full discussion about that just yet: this
year, the admin team is handing the baton to new leaders and it will be
up to them to decide how they want to start that discussion.
However, as the application process is already open I wanted to put some
practical ideas forward:
- if anybody believes any of the project ideas would be a better fit
under another organization, please feel free to comment on that, if it
is one of my ideas, I'll be happy to look at moving it and I'd rather do
that sooner rather than later
- if anybody believes some of the project ideas could be viewed
collaboratively, please comment on that too. For example, my idea of
automating Java packaging[1] has some relationship with Lucas' idea for
automatic package updates[2]: is it desirable for both to go ahead in
the same round so that the teams can share ideas? Or is it the
opposite, maybe Lucas' idea should be implemented first as it is more
generic and then mine should follow next year?
Regards,
Daniel
