I am pretty sure this function wasn't intended as PDF. When I use it to
Insert a odt it works

See above. And I honestly don't know why the filter allows PDF... Maybe
it still was intended to work after all. Would surprise me, but..

Actually, when trying this I see two scenarios:

a) Do the above without -pdfimport installed. You get it imported, but only
the "PDF code"
b) Do it with -pdfimport installed, you get the above error.

So maybe it simply does not recognize the PDF and/or the pdfimport thingy
(or the communication writer/-pdfimport) is buggy...
BUT: Just opening the PDF works and displays it in Draw. I even get textboxes
et al.

Aha. Didn't know, given your dependencies of the LO you installed even are
broken (some dependencies are not installed) I didn't have much confidence
in your bug report anyway... How did you get to a state like this?

Draw, basically.

Try lowriter <pdf> (or whatever lo* and you will get it in Draw)

So as I said: the workaround is to "open" the PDF and copy/paste it.

Still not "important" imho but normal..
