Well, maybe, -gnome Recommends -gtk3 (before that it depended on -gtk). But
that of course doesn't help if you don't install libreoffice-gnome. (The tasks
from the installer afaics install -gtk in xfce-desktop, though, as -gnome
and thus -gtk3 for gnome desktops)

But AFAICR LO takes gtk3 in precedence over gtk if both (or obviously if only gtk3 is
installed) are installed.

So yes, if you install stuff manually you need to install this one manually, too,
especially as it's for a "old" gtk version.

5.2.0 rc3 is in experimental. You can already try.
(only a rc4 is planned until the final, see https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/ReleasePlan/5.2)
