I'm rather surprised to see this main-loop, and spell-check stuff
running from another (the CUPS polling) thread - and I'm surprised at
the suggestion that CUPS might be thread-safe.
We really need a trace from all threads if that's possible:
thread apply all backtrace
in gdb :-)
