Fair enough, sorry for using the wrong severity. I was hesitating between
important and grave because of the fact that it also affects other programs,
not just OOo.

I based my change on "grep fr_ /etc/locale.gen" which returns this on sid:

So I don't know whether Monaco has a distinct locale, but based on this it
looks like they are probably just using fr_FR.

They apparently use the myspell dictionaires in /usr/share/myspell/dicts/
and since hunspell-fr (rightfully) conflicts on myspell-fr, then the
necessary dictionaires are missing in these other apps. Installing this
patched hunspell-fr package fixes the problems.

There are some differences, but until we have specific dictionaries for all
of them, then using the ones from France is a very good
alternative. Certainly better than not having a dictionary at all :)
It has been tested on fr_CA and fr_CH. Based on the nature of the changes
and the similarity of the locales, I would be surprised if it behaved
differently on fr_BE an fr_LU.

Great, I'm glad to know that it's already fixed properly upstream in 3.0.
The symlinks are a bit of a hack, but I thought that it would be the
simplest solution to get this working for Lenny.
