Package: openoffice.org 1.1.2dfsg1-3

OpenOffice.org 1.1.2dfsg1-3 in Debian Sarge

Hi, :-)

I have one Sarge kernel 2.4.27-1-686 installation in standard
no-brand-no-name PC computer.
Nothing special in configuration. I have installed OO from
my original Sarge package (15 CDs from my local vendor of December
2004) and updated later by standard apt-get.
I have HP Laser Jet 6L printer on Win3.11 machine connected via Samba to
my Sarge. Standard CUPS printing works OK, lp printing is also able to
produce something.
There is only user root and one normal user - nothing special.

I had problems:

1. no printing, even with old, good "lp" command. After apt-get upgrade,
as a root I have got test page once, and no more and later no more
any printout. Absolutely nothing as normal user. It seems, jobs got
nowhere (nothing in /var/spool/lpd/lp and nothing in &var/spool/cups)

After checking printer configuration in OO Printer Administration, i have
noticed, there was no possibility to choose paper size - the pull down
list contained nothing. Perhaps therefore there has been no printout.

2. Very poor MSWord 2000 files reading - corrupted tables, much worse,
than in version 1.1.1 installed in my another Woody box (package from
www.openoffice.org).

Finally I have removed Debian packages and installed binary files from
OpenOffice.org v.1.1.4 and all my problems were gone.

In fact I do not know, if there are indeed bugs in OO, or Debian package
installer has problems. Just for Your information.

Best greetings :-)

Dear openoffice.org user,

Thanks for your interest in OO.org and the bug report you have contributed.

Your bug report [0] was done for a version which is now quite old (pre
version 2.0.0).

During the last 6 weeks I sent 3 requests to update this bug report, and verify
that this bug still exists with a more up to date version of OO.org.

Since the bug is quite old, and I didn't get any response regarding this bug,
I'm closing it. I'm using the current unstable version for proving version info.

If you'll find this bug to still exist in a future version of OO.org, please
reopen the bug and specify the affected version.. Let me know if you need help
with this process.
