Finally the problem was solved/worked around after restarting portmap and firestarter (ie. the firewall) on the exporting machine. It leaves me puzzled, why other applications worked ok with nfs-files on the same directory even before the restart, while just OOo froze. It also leaves me puzzled what might have led to a malfunction of portmap and/or firestarter. Johannes
