Package: openoffice.org
Version: 1.1.3-4
Severity: normal

With debconf frontend set to dialog, apt-get install openoffice.org
displays (as expected):

,----
| Preparing to replace openoffice.org 1.1.3-4
| (using .../openoffice.org_1.1.3-4_all.deb) ...
| Unpacking replacement openoffice.org ...
| Setting up openoffice.org (1.1.3-4) ...
| Updating OpenOffice.org's dictionary list... done.
`----

But if debconf frontend is set to readline:

,----
| Preparing to replace openoffice.org 1.1.3-4
| (using .../openoffice.org_1.1.3-4_all.deb) ...
| Unpacking replacement openoffice.org ...
| debconf: unable to initialize frontend: Readline
| debconf: (This frontend requires a controlling tty.)
| debconf: falling back to frontend: Teletype
| Setting up openoffice.org (1.1.3-4) ...
| Updating OpenOffice.org's dictionary list... done.
| debconf: unable to initialize frontend: Readline
| debconf: (This frontend requires a controlling tty.)
| debconf: falling back to frontend: Teletype
`----

All openoffice, ttf-opensymbol (and many other) packages exhibit this
behaviour. Seems unlikely this is a debconf bug.

Cheers,
Cristian

There are no openoffice packages. You mean openoffice.org. ;-)

=46rom what do you run it? From a terminal? No? Read the message.
readlinei/teletype requires to be ran with a controlling tty (terminal).

This is no bug - either in openoffice.org, debconf or some other package.

Closing. If you reported some other bugs like that you should close them
too.=20
