I have never seen this happen before, even though I use KDE too. Even
if I leave impress running for half an hour in full screen mode, I still
do not get this behaviour.

Does this happen every time you try to reproduce it, or just sometimes?

Does the problem happen with the version of OOo in unstable too?

Which KDE version do you have?

Do you have any screen saver enabled?

Does the problem still occur if you create a new user account and run
OOo under that?

Does the problem still occur if you try another window manager, such as
twm?

Thanks,
Chris
