Well, vanilla Debian users aren't expected to use apt-get. I think you
should read this message:

It's dealing with another problem with apt-get, one of obsolete
packages, but the rest of the mail is relevant.
BTW, I actually tried this out on my pure unstable chroot, and I do not
get the same as youi, with apt or aptitude:
# dpkg -l openoffice.org\*
No packages found matching openoffice.org*.
# apt-get install openoffice.org
