What does 'locales -a' show?

Uh oh, I can't guarantee that there are no problems with that driver -
several people have reported problems. Can you try temporarily switching to
another driver such as nv or vesa, and confirm that the problem still
exists?

Also, please try to get a core dump of the crash:

- make sure you are in a directory in which you have write permissions, such
  as your home directory

- enter these commands:

 ulimit -c 999999
 LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/lib/openoffice/program /usr/lib/openoffice/program/soffice.bin

- OOo will start up; reproduce the crash

When OOo crashes, you should see the message 'Segmentation fault (core
dumped)'. and find a file named core or core.[some number] in your working
directory. Please mail it to me directly (not to the bug report!)

Thanks,
Chris
