Can OpenOffice really be GPL?

I just checked the build requirements while fetching a pre-built version of
OpenOffice at www.openoffice.org

One thing I noticed is that zip/unzip is required.. If I am not wrong I
thought that the pkzip stuff had some wierd license agreement?

If so, the OpenOffice naitive formats is also not totally free, as they are
pkzip'd as well..

Can anyone enlighten me on this issue?

Best regards
