It was a regression in 4.0.0, and without the patch (which will be
in 4.0.1), Octave is unusable with HDF5 files with integer data.

If the upstream release 4.0.1 is imminent, then I think we will not
bother releasing a fix for the 4.0.0 Debian package now. Does anybody
know when the upstream developers intend to release version 4.0.1?
