I'm afraid I haven't any experience in the matter. But I'd be glad to
learn :-)

I'm a physicist, as such I often have to calculate some equations, or
different operations (like dec->hex).


 Do you happen to work/study in an area where image acquisition

I have been involved in projects (university, image processing
internship, etc.) where it was at the centre of the programs. But it
is not currently the case.
