Hi, Rafael Laboissiere <rafael@debian.org> (24/07/2007): > Thanks for your comments, I really appreciate them. Once you are > done, please post the summary here and also to debian-toolchain and > debian-release. Before posting there (where I'm still waiting for an answer about gfortran-4.1 status), here is a quick summary of what I've found WRT to our B-D: - we B-D on atlas3, which pulls g77; I then tried to get rid of g77 in this package; - atlas3 in turn B-D on lapack3; I then tried... - lapack3 in turn B-D on refblas3; I then tried... and failed because of: | gfortran -pipe -O3 -fomit-frame-pointer -ff90 -fPIC -c src/c_abs.f -o | debian/shared/c_abs.o | f951: error: unrecognized command line option "-ff90" | make: *** [debian/shared/c_abs.o] Error 1 So we really have to wait for the others to transition before we do. Since the above-mentioned packages have been NMU'd a lot of times, I guess that people from -toolchain might do the uploads for the transition, and fix the FTBFS(es) I mentioned; I'm not used enough to fortran problems to solve wrong options... I believe we could transition from g77 to gfortran-4.1 once we have a go (and I also believe we'll have, it looks like g77 is gcc3.4-related, so gfortran-4.1 should be fine), and once the packages we are build-depending upon have transitioned, either ask for binNMUs for our packages, or use MUs (with various other fixes), to ensure our packages still build fine. Cheers, -- Cyril Brulebois
