No. Besides, with the -q option, no init file is loaded.

Plenty, as everybody. However even with the --no-site-file option I get
the error:

% emacs --no-site-file -q -batch -l path.el -f batch-byte-compile
% camldebug.el
While compiling toplevel forms in file /home/rt/debian/pkg-ocaml-maint/packages/tuareg-mode/trunk/orig/tuareg-mode-1.44.3/camldebug.el:
  !! Symbol's value as variable is void ((font-lock-reference-face))
