Originally I didn't think to keep tarballs in the repository indeed. But
rethinking about it I realized that:
1) is easier for the developer who want to contribute to find the
   tarball there and avoid looking around the web to find it
2) can be useful for repacking old version of packages when old upstream
   tarballs have been removed from the web

As you see is not terribly useful indeed, but ... why not?
