This kind of acronym conflict is left unchanged by the s/Maintainer/Member/ proposal (you have a conflict now, you have one later). Actually, now that you mention this, it even gets a lot better because right now one could be mistaken into thinking that to get the "Debian Maintainer" status they should apply to the "New Maintainer" process. (And we can hardly blame people for such a doubt…). If the process becomes the "New Member" process, this specific doubt will be gone for good. It seems a win also on this front.
