Applicant writes:
I'm a 16 years young Systems Administrator from Solothurn (exactly
Grenchen) in Switzerland. I did the Gymnasium (we have a complicated
school system so i don't explain it) and in Summer 2005 I started my
apprenticeship in the "Departement of Information Systems" in Grenchen,
that means I work for the governement
and administrate there in a team of 4 persons about 60 servers, 20
routers and 500 workstations, we also use Debian on some servers and
workstations. My first contact with Linux was when i was 12, i had the
idea to learn programming (as a hobby, i was always interested in
technics and computers) and decided that PHP is a good language for the
begin and when i saw that PHP is only powerful on Linux i installed my
first RedHat. Then i came to Debian, then Gentoo, I used it for a quite
long time. In April 2005 I met Daniel Baumann, he explained me a lot
about Debian, the package-management, the release process, the DFSG... I
was really fascinated and begun to participate. I begun to see the
advantages of free (like in free speech) Software: It's easier to fix
something, you can learn a lot from it and the system is very stable,
last but not least it's also a great community. In school i've organised
a Debian installation evening and showed my friends how cool free
software is and why freeness a good idea is.
Beside Debian I'm a member of the Linux user group Switzerland, Aargau
and Seeland, I had there some speeches and helped sometimes on
installation events, because it was a lot of fun i will do it again.
Then i also like to go out with friends. My favourite music styles are
Hardcore, Trance and sometimes Metal and Rock.
2. Philosophy and Procedures
-----------------------------
Mario has a good understanding of Debians Philosophy and
Procedures. He answered all my Questions about Social Contract,
DFSG, BTS etc. in a good way.
3. Tasks and Skills
-------------------
Mario is Maintainer of 16 packages in main and 1 package in contrib ( most
of them sponsored by my). His packages are and were in a good shape and he
fixed all issues without problems.
He also answered my other Questions regarding T&S without problems.
4. Recommendation
-----------------
I recommend to accept him as a Debian Developer.
