Applicant writes: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I am 19 years old OSS developer and freelance systems/network administrator. I specialize in the Debian operating system. I am a member of the Kalyxo project (formerly known as KDE-Debian), where i develop an apt frontend for KDE (called kapture). There is more work to be done and we are going to package some KDE and integrative software for Debian. I am one of the packagers in this project. I started to use Debian on a day-by-day basis after Woody release. I liked it even before i started to use it, i was following the debian-devel list and so on. I had to wait for CDs to become available in my area to start using Debian as i had only dialled internet connection. For some time, i was using the stable system, but as new versions of software started to appear, i backported it to my box. I even made few packages for not-in-debian software for local use (they were of poor quality, so i never published them). Since then, better connection became available to me and i switched to sid system for my workstation. I maintain several stable and testing boxes as well. 2. Philosophy and Procedures ----------------------------- Peter has a good understanding of Debians Philosophy and Procedures. He answered all Martin's Questions about Social Contract, DFSG, BTS etc. in a good way. 3. Tasks and Skills ------------------- Peter answered Martin's and mine questions regarding T&S without problems. Peter currently maintains libapt-front-dev, comaintained with me. We have been working together on development and packaging of libapt-front and debtags for a few months, and he has proved to be very knowledgeable about Debian internals, policy and packaging. 4. Recommendation ----------------- I recommend to accept him as a Debian Developer.
