Report for new developer applicant: Eugeniy Meshcheryakov <eugen@univ.kiev.ua> 1. Identification & Background ------------------------------ Key ID: 0x39A8CCE2. ID check performed using signed scan of passport. Applicant writes: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I am a student of the Kyiv National Taras Shevchenko University, I am also working in the Information and Computing Centre in the university. As I am speak Ukrainian I intended to do some translations to Ukrainian for Debian (I am translating Debian Installer and I translated several other packages, mostly debconf templates) and also maintain packages (now only Ukrainian localisations and dictionaries, maybe other packages in future). I also made patches for some bugs. About Linux... My first experience with Unix was in the university. I used HP-UX during programming course. Then I started to work in ICC where programmed first for FreeBSD and then for Linux (RedHat). Then I tried Debian GNU/Hurd and then GNU/Linux. What I like in Debian: package system, availability of unstable version and BTS that makes it easy to contribute translation and other patches. 2. Philosophy and Procedures ----------------------------- Eugeniy has a good understanding of Debians Philosophy and Procedures. He answered all my Questions about Social Contract, DFSG, BTS etc. in a good way. 3. Tasks and Skills ------------------- Eugeniy is Maintainer of ispell-uk, mozilla-firefox-locale-uk and mozilla-thunderbird-locale-uk, all Packages in Debian (sponsored by Aurelien Jarno <aurel32@debian.org>). He also answered my other Questions regarding T&S without problems. 4. Recommendation ----------------- I recommend to accept him as a Debian Developer.
