AM Report for Martin Albert --------------------------- Applicant Information: Name: Martin Albert Current Email: MartinAlbert@gmx.net Preferred Debian Account Name: ma@debian.org to be forwarded to MartinAlbert@gmx.net Subscription Email to -private: MartinAlbert@gmx.net Summary: I am happy to recommend the acceptance of Martin as a Debian Maintainer. Identification -------------- Martin provided the following GPG key (attached): pub 1024D/1A944AD7 2001-01-27 Martin Albert <MartinAlbert@gmx.net> sig! 1A944AD7 2001-01-27 Martin Albert <MartinAlbert@gmx.net> sig! 211B1025 2001-03-28 Jochen Voss <voss@mathematik.uni-kl.de> sub 1024g/713B9FB0 2001-01-27 sig! 1A944AD7 2001-01-27 Martin Albert <MartinAlbert@gmx.net> It is signed by Jochen Voss, a debian developer, whose fingerprint matches what is held in db.debian.org. Identification Check Passed Policy and Procedures --------------------- Albert and I discussed the Social Contract and the DFSG. He demonstrated to me that he understands the principles and extent of these documents, and that he is aware of the responsibilities of a debian maintainer. He also explicitly agreed to abide by the DMUP. He also answered some questions on copyrights and licenses to my satisfaction. Policy and Procedures Check Passed Tasks and Skills ---------------- Albert already has several sponsored packages in debian. He has packaged cthugha (an oscilloscope on acid) and has fixed several problems, and sent patches upstream. I took a look at the package, and it looks good. He also mintains libgii, libggi, and svgalib4libggi under the sponsorship of Colin Watson <cjw44@flatline.org.uk>. Colin was a bit busy with other things when I asked him about these packages, but he did say: <quote> [Kamion> Gop_Astro: taking on libggi and libgii is quite a big project for an NM, and overall he seems to be doing a good job (I had to teach him a bit about Replaces:, but otherwise fine). </quote> Albert has read through the documents covering the Debian BTS. In addition to packaging, he wants to be involved in QA, Documentation and "spreading" the word of debian in general. All in all, I think Albert shows the skills and the experience necessary to be a debian developer and will make a great addition to the debian developer community. -- Gopal Narayanan <gopal@debian.org> <gopal@astro.umass.edu> Debian GNU/Linux Developer Dept. of Astronomy, University of Massachusetts, Amherst
