AM report for Andreas Schuldei

Summary for Andreas Schuldei <andreas@schuldei.org>

Identity
--------

GPG key 0x00F2B9F3 has been signed by Debian developer Roland Bauerschmidt
<roland@copyleft.de>. Since the encryption key has expired recently, I
asked Andreas to generate a new key (0x7B8357E5). Andreas produced a
signed mail with his old and new key, and signed the new key with the old
one.

Philosophy & Procedures
-----------------------

I spoke with Andreas on IRC. From this discussion and from my mail
exchange with him, I got the impression that Andreas has a very clear
understanding of free software and of Debian. He has released GPL code
and was even able to convince his employer to support free software!
Andreas also organized the LinuxTag Bremen together with others.

Tasks & Skills
--------------

Andreas wants to address security issues. He is going to write a
syntax/lexical checker for c(++) source that would point out problematic
source code and perhaps even generate patches. A similar tool is
available as non-free software, but Andreas was unfortunately not able to
convince the author of chaning the license to something sane. For the
skill check, Andreas packaged the non-free checker. There were 2 lintian
warnings and some other small problems. Andreas fixed the problems
immediately.

Recommendation
--------------

I recommend that Andreas be accepted as a Debian maintainer. I'm
confident that he will be a good maintainer.
