I've forked the xawtv Salsa repo and pushed some changes to my fork to fix #962221: https://salsa.debian.org/azazel/xawtv There are a couple of housekeeping patches, I've imported the latest upstream release (3.107), and I've added the patch mentioned in the notes at the bottom of the CVE page: https://security-tracker.debian.org/tracker/CVE-2020-13696 I was hoping somebody from the multimedia team would be able to take a look and let me know whether they're acceptable and, if so, what I can do to help get them released and the bug closed.
