 I have not used Video4Linux for several years.  I use DV and
HDV cameras, and ieee1394 has a whole different API on Linux.
I do think that is a problem, but it may be beyond the scope of
what we are outlining here.

Ieee1394 configuration needs a policy, too.  It is somewhat
worrying that the preferred device for (H)DV capture is /dev/raw1394,
which can also be a disk device!
