Hi,

If you can't get MIDI working on your SB, you can also try to load
the snd-virmidi module and use a software synthesizer such as timidity or
fluidsynth. I think you will have to search for the "patch" files for the
softsynths on the web though, as they might not be included in Debian.

I just now tried 'aoss solfege'. No luck. Am I supposed to have some
other kernel modules loaded besides snd_sbawe and its dependents?

Hello,

I have loaded timidity before, with patches. However its playback
seems to be extremely poor. Listening to its playback, I think my
system does not deliver information in enough of a timely manner
to produce a smooth tone (see my original note on this subject).

I don't think I had loaded snd-virmidi, however, and generally I
am extremely vague on what the sound modules do.

Am I missing something important about this problem?

Thanx,
Henricus
