Debian and Zapping recording

I was very glad tpo read this posting as I am a new owner of
BT848-based AVerTV Studio 203 and I also didn't know how to record
video with zapping.  However, I run Knoppix-based Debian unstable.

I looked first for (lib)rte Debian package, but found none. Then I
downloaded from sourceforge

        rte-0.5.1-1.i386.rpm

and converted it with alien. After installing it zapping simply stop working.

I uninstalled rte and made cold start. zapping (and xawtv) still don't
work.

What I have done wrong? How can I recover? How should I set up my
system for recording?

Thanks in advance for your help. I enclose some zapping error
messages.
