Thomas Bogendoerfer just found the reason.  This one is particularly
unfortunate because I actually found (and fixed) this bug several
months ago, but in the end I forgot to put it into our 2.6.18 kernel.
The problem is that older kernels don't enable the UART on RaQ1.

I commited a fix and I'm currently compiling a kernel that I hope you
can test for me.
