I currently build glibc 2.5-2 in an etch chroot on my Gentoo system.
I do not have a 2.6.18 kernel but use
$ uname -a
Linux cadws5.sol 2.6.14-ip30 #1 SMP Tue Dec 19 14:02:05 MST 2006 mips64
R12000 V2.3  FPU V0.0 SGI Octane GNU/Linux

The machine is a dual processor SGI Octane with R12000 270MHz CPUs.
The build did not yet finish but runs already the tests so it should
stop soon (I will check for a proper build tomorrow).
