Actually, it wasn't completely useless but locked up with multiple threads. In Oldenburg we (Java Developers and MIPS porters) discussed the issue and decided it is better to switch the kaffe compiler from (unmaintained) jikes to gcj and break kaffe/mips{,el} for now, until the toolchain for MIPS is fixed to handle the gcj runtime.
