Remove the mouse and the keyboard. Then use the serial console
to access the indy. That is what I do.

> my indy is trying to launch xdm when it starts up for some reason and it crashes and hangs my machine.  so i'm dead in the water unless i can somehow interrupt the boot sequence or failing that, get a mini-root to use to mount my file- ystems and fix the rc.
