Debian on MIPS

I am interested in contributing to the Linux project on the MIPS architecture.
But I am most interested in making Debian GNU/Linux go. I have simple-linux
0.2b up and running on my Indy.

Should i be devoting my efforts to the 2.1.94 glibc that is in development for
the i386 (and other archs) of debian, or on the more bleeding edge, but more
supported on the MIPS architecture 2.2.x?
