An all SGI machines except the Indy the GFX Board isnt supported at all
so you probably have to go for the Serial Console (Normally the precompiled
kernels should always be including Serial Console).

Currently i know of noone having a Challenge nor running Linux. 
So probably your Machine (If not HW Identical to Indigo2 or Indy or
at least similar) wont work.

Please post a prom "hinv" output.
