Bug#926731: ITS: urlscan/0.9.2 - extract and browse email URLs

Package: sponsorship-requests
Severity: important

Dear mentors,

I am looking for a sponsor for the existing debian package "urlscan[1]",
used by email clients such as mutt to parse and pipe embedded urls. The
debian package is an update and improvement to another debian package
"urlview", but[2] the debian version of "urlscan" is ten point releases
and over three years behind the upstream, the debian maintainer seems
not active[3], and that maintainer's sponsor has expressed to me a lack
of interest. Based upon an email from Paul Wise[4], and from reading the
debian manual[5], I guess the correct bureaucratic procedure is to start
a 'salvage' process; the circumstances seem to clearly fit within the
criteria of [5][6].

I am not subscribed to the debian-mentors mailing list, so please
include me directly in all replies. The remainder of this email is based
upon the RFS template[7].
