I think this is not a question male vs. female, but it just depends on
the community you are contributing to.

For debian-science, debian-blends, and debian-astro (and debian-mentors,
ofcourse!) I never had problems, and always got quick and helpful
answers. These communities are (comparably) small, and there are
enthusiastic members. Debian-women probably just falls into the same
category.

I have also a number of questions and bug reports (partly even with
patches) rotting around, where I am unsure why they are not answered or
incorporated. However, since Debian is made by volunteers, there is no
way to force people to do anything, so it is as it is.

However, I do not see why this is connected to gender issues.
