chromium-bsu builds just fine with the new macros from
autoconf-archive on Debian. I haven't tested this on other platforms
like MacOS but I guess it will be fine.
Personally I don't think a transitional package is useful though, I
would suggest uploading without it and then I'll request removal of
autoconf-gl-macros once I've updated chromium-bsu.
Should this be uploaded to unstable rather than experimental?
Probably a good idea to CC your usual sponsor for this package.
