I'm not sure you can use all other libraries as an example. A good
analogy might be with libdb, which (it would appear) there are several
packages for the different versions in Debian.

Even so, how is a user supposed to know which API libmusicbrainz6 refers to?
Musicbrainz refers to library versions in a pretty specific way, identifying
in the library name the API version to which it applies. I really think we
need to stick with this moving forward.
